Dr.Dederich performs two types of tissue grafts, the Connective Tissue Graft and the Free Gingival (Pink Tire Patch) Tissue Graft.
Both have different purposes to address different concerns.
In this case, do you notice the thin red tissue underneath the tooth with the star on it? The root is not yet exposed (recession), however this tooth is at risk of getting recession in the future. Therefore the Free Gingival Graft stabilizes that area with tough healthy tissue.
*You will be able to see the Free Gingival Graft after surgery, where as the Connective Tissue Graft blends in nicely to the surrounding tissue. This is why we refer to the Free Gingival Graft as the "Pink Tire Patch Graft".
